Cat-back exhaust system is an automotive exhaust system designed to improve engine performance and reduce exhaust emissions. 1. Cat-back
Cat-back includes your Midpipe, muffler, and exhaust tip.
Depending on your engine layout, your cat-back exhaust might come with either an X-pipe, Y-pipe, or H-pipe. It will also include all the necessary installation hardware like gaskets, flanges, nuts, bolts, and hangers.
2. Axle Back
Axle-back is an exhaust system configuration, usually including muffler , tail throat and exhaust pipe ,the there parts are welded together.It is located between the exhaust pipe and the axle and is used to control the flow and sound of exhaust gas from the engine. In contrast to the cat-back (which includes the catalytic converter as well as the rear exhaust system) and Muffler , the Axle back covers only the rear end of the exhaust pipe, which is usually a replaceable unit used to change the sound and appearance of the vehicle, and does not involve more extensive exhaust system modifications.
Because,axle back exhausts don’t really add power, and they don’t require a remap.
The reason why axle back exhausts don’t add power on most cars is that they only replace the muffler and nothing else. Restriction from the mid pipe, catalytic converter, and resonator will still be there.
Turbo back is a modified exhaust system that replaces the entire exhaust system from the turbocharger to the exhaust tip. It usually includes a new turbocharger housing, down pipe, catalytic converter, exhaust pipe, muffler, and exhaust tip. The Turbo back exhaust system is designed to improve the overall exhaust flow, increase the vehicle’s power and torque by reducing drag and increasing turbocharger efficiency, and is designed to enhance the performance and sound of turbocharged vehicles, a modification that is highly favored by car enthusiasts.
4. Header Back/Full Exhaust System
Header back or full exhaust systems replace everything from the outlet of the exhaust manifold, all the way back to the tailpipe.
Essentially it’s a cat-back exhaust with an intermediate pipe or a downpipe, along with something to replace the OEM catalytic converter — either a high flow catalytic converter, a resonator, or a test pipe (straight pipe).
